aircraft, 11th September 1972. Flown by
Lasseter, with Captain John Cummings in the rear seat the pair
engaged up to
in the engagement with a confirmed kill on one and a possible
on a second.
Low on fuel as they returned to their carrier the USS America
they were hit
by a SAM and the plane destroyed. Both the crew ejected sucessfully
by rescue helicopters.
